EuroVelo 3 is also called The Pilgrims Route, because it passes by some of Europe’s historic religious sites, all the way from northern Denmark to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The Danish stretch of Eurovelo 3 is a 450-kilometer-long main route up through Jutland, mainland Denmark. Large forests alternate with open country, moors are replaced by stretches of coast, and from north to south you have Denmark's history up close. Burial mounds from ancient times, ring castles from the Viking Age, the medieval town of Viborg and the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Jelling.
