The route has ferry docks at both ends: to the north in Sjællands Odde and to the south in Rødby with a connection to Germany. The northern part of the route leads through varied nature with many fine views. The Lammefjord is asurrounded by dama, and the former fjord bed is fertile agricultural land – and a nice flat area to bike on. A highlight is the ride over the Guldborgsund Bridge.

Åmosen Nature Park combines marshes, streams, forests, seas, lakes and salt meadows with many well-preserved Stone Age finds. In the park, you can cycle part of the Ice Age Route: five stages with a total of 390 km. The area around the Tystrup-Bavelse lakes is a great nature experience as well, and in the old water mill at Kongskilde Nature Center you can get a first impression of the area.

Northeast of Næstved, Glas producer Holmegaard has collected 42,000 pieces of glass art, and you can see the glassblowers at work. Closer to the route is Gavnø Castle with a treetop climbing park and Northern Europe's largest private painting collection. In Næstved, it is a great experience to cycle around the city and see the many wall paintings by Danish and foreign graffiti artists.

In Vordingborg, in the middle of the country's largest castle ruin, the Danish Castle Center conveys the heyday of the Middle Ages in the area. The Maribo Lakes Nature Park is also exciting, especially if you are interested in white tailed eagles, and in the summer you can sail out on the lakes with a tour boat. Maribo Cathedral rings six times a day and is indeed worth a visit.
